The first presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will be broadcast live for 90 minutes on September 10 at 9 p.m. ET. ABC News’ Linsey Davis and David Muir will be moderating the debate. Some have argued that real-time fact-checkers should also be involved in the debate’s moderation. Each candidate has agreed to have their microphones muted when the opposing candidate is speaking, and is not permitted to have pre-written notes. Harris and Trump will be permitted to have a notepad, pen, and bottle of water. The candidates will also not be given topics or questions beforehand. Key topics like abortion rights, the economy, border security, and the war in Gaza are expected to be discussed. Harris is also likely to address Trump's past questioning of her Black identity. Vice President and Democratic Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris has previously said in response to comments from former President Trump, that he should “say it to [her] face.” Harris has also dismissed Trump’s comments as the “same old tired playbook” in a recent interview with CNN.
