A AV¶ÌÊÓƵ man who already is a registered sex offender has been charged with distributing child pornography.
Steven Kyle South, 35, was charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, failure to register as a sex offender and possession of methamphetamine, according to a release from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
South was charged after deputies received a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children about the alleged distribution of child porn, the release said.
A search warrant was executed at South’s home on Wednesday, and he was taken into custody, the release said.
South became a registered sex offender after a 2006 conviction for taking indecent liberties with a minor, according to criminal records. South was 16 at the time of the offense and the victim was 7, according to the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry.

Since his 2006 conviction, South has been convicted of three counts of failure to register as a sex offender, according to records from the NC Department of Adult Correction.
His bond was set at $50,000 secured, the release said.
