A Lenoir man died Wednesday when his motorcycle collided with an SUV.
The crash happened at approximately 6 p.m. on U.S. Highway 321 near Roby Martin Road in Caldwell County, according to Master Trooper Christopher Casey.
A 2017 Kawasaki motorcycle driving south on the road failed to adequately reduce speed and collided with a southbound 2011 Nissan Pathfinder, Casey said.
The driver of the motorcycle, Stephen Daniel Swafford, 49, of Lenoir, was thrown from the motorcycle. He died at the scene, Casey said.
The driver of the Pathfinder, Jeannie Carol Franklin, 66, of Lenoir, was not injured, Casey said.
No charges will be filed in this case, according to Casey.
