GREENSBORO — No crop tops. No leggings. "Do not enter if you have on shorts."
TikTok brought Kim's Kafe in Greensboro worldwide notoriety last year when an influencer passing through town happened upon the soul food spot near Guilford College with fried fish, ribs and oxtails, and lines of customers followed.
The owner, whom he identified as "Miss Kim," later said she was near closing her doors because of the lack of foot traffic. When he came back days later there was a line around the building and a busy "Miss Kim" exclaiming that he made her go viral.
"Did Greensboro show you love?" he asked her.
"Greensboro showed me love," she said as he listed people coming from as far away as Washington, D.C., who supported her because she was in a bad spot.

But over the weekend, signs posted on the inside of the glass partitions at the front of the family-owned business on the west side of Greensboro have led people on the same app to "roast" the restaurant, off Dolley Madison Road. The food has taken a back seat to "Do not enter if you have on shorts" written in letters bigger than the name on the same door.
"Kim's Cafe has an extremely bizarre dress code,"Â the TikToker star who goes by Jordan the Grey and has half a million followers, said while superimposing herself over an image of the restaurant. "And they've written it in marker all over the entrance doors."
The restaurant's Facebook page now reads: "This dress code has been in place all summer, all we ask is that people respect our dress code."
It also asks diners not to show cleavage.
Memes have been made — including those of folks "dressing up" covered head to toe and others in everything they aren't allowed to wear inside.
Some applauded her stance.
"I may not be a Christian but I support your rules," one person wrote on Facebook.
"Love what you are doing Ki," wrote another. "And continue to be blessed."
Another TikToker posted video of himself driving from Raleigh and spotting the sign. He wasn't happy.
The original TikToker even spoke up.
"When I had her food last year it was amazing," the TikTok star who goes by the name Ride with Yusuf, and has 140,000 followers, said on Labor Day. "The love and soul she put in that food was amazing."
It's her right and her business, he said before adding that he didn't know anything about her business policies. He said he had nothing but good interactions with her but businesses make decisions and then live by them, he added.
"Y'all picked this person back up and if they fall again," Ride with Yusuf said, "it's on them."
